Brian is a well-known figure in the world of Country Sports Photography and Journalism.

His journey began in 1994 when he picked up photography as a hobby to capture images of motorcycle racing. In the era of 35mm slide film, Brian quickly developed his skills, learning the art of exposure and shutter speed through meter readings before taking each shot—this was how photographers honed their craft.

Residing near the Quantock Hills in Somerset, Brian's focus soon shifted toward his other passions: wildlife, hunting, shooting, and fishing. As commissions started to come in and his images were published, he also ran a greeting card and print business.

Simultaneously, Brian wrote articles for publications like Amateur Photographer, Western Daily Press, Sports Boat, and Rib, but his career was on the brink of a major shift.

A photograph of a Roebuck taken in the New Forest won the British Deer Society photo competition. The very next day, renowned Roe Deer expert Richard Prior invited Brian to collaborate on his upcoming book Deer Watch, which set his career in motion.

Since then, Brian has contributed to numerous books and articles with notable figures such as Richard Prior, Charlie Jacoby, Tony Jackson, Dominic Griffiths, Peter Carr, Peter Moore, and Bill Harriman.

Thousands of his images have been published, including countless magazine covers for Shooting Times, Country Life, The Field, Sporting Gun, BASC, and Sporting Rifle.

He was a feature writer for Sporting Rifle for many years and frequently contributed to Shooting Times and BASC magazines, resulting in numerous trips across the UK and Europe.

Brian consistently aims to take a unique approach, which has led to several notable achievements:

He was the first journalist to write and photograph the following groundbreaking articles:

  • Red deer stalking at Glen Coe with a National Trust for Scotland deer stalker

  • Deer culling with a New Forest Forestry Commission stalker

  • Fox control on an RSPB reserve

  • A lamping commission that captured what was, at the time, the largest fox ever photographed.

Awards and recognitions include:

  • Sporting Rifle Photographer of the Year

  • BASC Photographer of the Year

In collaboration with his good friend and Field Sports Channel editor, Charlie Jacoby, Brian co-founded Riflephoto.com, an online image library that was the first to specialize in country sports photography.

The Field magazine even featured the story of his marriage proposal to Sporting and Wildlife artist Teresa Davis!
