Brian needs no introduction when it comes to Country Sport Photography and Journalism, after taking up photography as a hobby back in 1994 to capture images of motorcycle racing, his camera knowledge grew quickly as 35mm slide film was the norm, meter readings to determine, exposures & shutter speed decided before the button was pressed, this is how photographers learnt they trade.

Living near the Quantock Hills in Somerset Brian’s photography eventually turned to his other passion, Wildlife, Hunting,  Shooting & Fishing,  with occasional commissions and pictures being published ticked away his greeting cards and print business running in the background,  Brian was writing articles for Amateur Photographer, Western Daily Press, Sports Boat and Rib to name but a few, things we’re about to change.

A Roebuck image taken in the New Forest won the British Deer Society photo competition, the following day world renown Roe Deer expert Richard Prior asked Brian to work with him on his next book "Deer Watch" this started the ball rolling, Since then Brian has worked on many books and articles with Richard Prior, Charlie Jacoby, Tony Jackson, Dominic Griffiths, Peter Carr, Peter Moore, Bill Harriman , 1000’s of pictures published and an endless amount of front covers from magazines such as Shooting Times, Country Life, The Field, Sporting Gun, BASC, Sporting Rifle etc. He was a feature writer for Sporting Rifle for many years, also regular commissions for Shooting times and BASC magazine resulting in countless trips from Scotland, Cornwall & Europe.

Brian always strives for a different approach resulting in the following:

Brian was the first journalist to write and photograph the following articles:

  • Red Deer stalking at Glen Coe with a National Trust for Scotland Deer stalker

  • Deer culling by New Forest Forestry Commission Deer stalker

  • Fox control on a RSPB reserve

Also a lamping commission captured at the time the biggest fox shot on camera.

Awards include:

BASC Photographer of the year

With good friend and Field Sports Channel editor Charlie Jacoby they launched Riflephoto.com online image library, the only dedicated country sports image library at the time.

The field Magazine even wrote about his marriage proposal to Sporting and Wildlifre artist Teresa Davis!
